Harris, VP pick, will campaign in Eau Claire next week.

Western Wisconsin visit follows announcement of Democratic vice presidential candidate.

Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential contender, will travel to Wisconsin next week to campaign alongside her vice presidential nominee, who will be announced shortly.

The event will take place in Eau Claire sometime early on Wednesday afternoon, but the precise site has not yet been revealed by the organizers, according to a press release from Harris' campaign.

According to the news release, the Eau Claire trip will be a part of a week-long tour of swing states that starts Tuesday in Philadelphia and goes to Michigan, North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona, and North Carolina.

The vice president will be visiting Wisconsin for the second time on Wednesday after Biden announced on July 21 that he would not be running for reelection.

At a rally in West Allis just two days after that upheaval, Harris informed people in the Greater Milwaukee area that her administration will prioritize "freedom, compassion, and the rule of law." Additionally, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff supported Harris by attending a Hmong celebration in Wausau later that week.

Although the Democratic delegates have not yet cast their votes to name Harris the party's presidential nominee, The Associated Press revealed earlier this month that Harris had amassed sufficient backing to guarantee the candidacy.

On August 22, the final day of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, she is anticipated to formally accept the nomination.

Wisconsin has been the focus of both the Trump and Harris campaigns, which have emphasized the state's significance as a hotly contested battleground.

Wisconsin was won by Biden and Harris by less than 20,000 votes, or less than one percentage point, four years ago.
