Nikki Haley, Donald Trump's former competitor, has agreed to speak on the second day of the Republican (NC) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, despite previously stating that she would not go.
The former South Carolina governor's staff told various publications on Sunday that she will attend the event, only one day after a gunman attempted to assassinate Trump.
Ms. Haley tussled with the outgoing president for months before losing her bid to challenge Trump for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024.
However, she appealed for party unity last week and told her 97 delegates to vote for Trump at the convention.
The BBC has requested a statement from Ms. Haley's representative.
The former United Nations ambassador has a strained relationship with Trump. She had previously served in the Trump administration and spent months bashing him during her presidential campaign, calling him "unhinged".
Trump responded with a slew of insults, including the nickname "bird brain" for Ms Haley. Ms Haley initially hesitant to endorse Trump after withdrawing from the race in March due to poor performance in the primaries.
Two months later, she announced her intention to vote for him. Trump has stated that Ms Haley will be a part of his next administration "in some form".
Last Saturday, following the shooting at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania, Ms. Haley shared on virtual side that she was "lifting up Donald Trump" in petition.
The Republican National Convention is on its second day. On Monday, President Trump revealed Ohio Senator JD Vance as his choice for vice president.
A plethora of politicians are expected to take the stage on Tuesday, with the subject of "Make America Safe Again"; however, the convention has not yet disclosed the complete roster of speakers.
