Bird flu strikes McDonald's Australia during breakfast hours.
The fast food behemoth has temporarily reduced its morning operations due to an egg scarcity.
Australians who enjoy a late-morning McDonald's breakfast must wake up early.
The fast food behemoth has temporarily reduced the hours of its breakfast service throughout the country by 90 minutes due to an egg scarcity triggered by a bird flu epidemic.
It is presently providing its full breakfast menu until 10:30 a.m., rather than the normal lunchtime.
"Like many retailers, we are carefully managing the supply of eggs due to current industry challenges," McDonald's Australia stated in a statement to the BBC.
Our network of Australian farmers, producers, and suppliers remains our primary partner as the industry rallies to meet this challenge.
" In the last two months, several bird flu strains have been found in eleven poultry operations in southeast Australia. According to the authorities, everything is under control.
Purchaser's can expect to see some bare shelves in the short-term, anyhow, supplies are being re-directed to areas with short supply," according to Australia's government.
Consumers should avoid purchasing more eggs than necessary.
" Bird flu has infected less than 10% of Australia's egg-laying hens, but some businesses have set limits on the number of eggs that can be purchased.
The outbreaks have resulted in the killing of about 1.5 million hens in Australia. So yet, no strains have been identified as the H5N1 type of bird flu.
